Military Challenge Coins and More

October 5th, 2008 by admin

For decades the military has been making challenge coins for their units and their commanders. This tradition is long standing and spreading all over outside the military barriers. We are of course excited to say the least as it will give us a chance to see them all. We are going to conitue to specialize in showing off unit coins from all the branches of the military but we do want to recognize there is a sea of coins outside of our scope.

In many cases whether it’s a specific coin for Army challenge coins or something for the Coast Guard coins we will direct attention to anything special we see coming out. Stay tuned to our blog and look for some great announcements of new coins coming. We are excited and we hope you are too.

MilBid Auctions Supporting Military Units

March 23rd, 2008 by admin

MilBid Online Auctions

Though MilBid has not much to do with unit coins other than you can buy and sell them through auctions, this is very notable as they directly contribute to units around the world. We wanted to take a minute out and recognize a site that helps units out through their operations as an online auction house. You will be happy to know that they offer buying and selling at no charge and are aggressively spreading the word as a pro-military website dedicated in taking care of the troops as much as they can. How often does something like this come along? The answer is simple, it is ultimately rare!

We applaud them in getting something like this off the ground and being proactive in regards to dedicating their site to our men and women serving in the Armed Forces. If you have a chance to check out the site we strongly encourage you to do so. Tell them we sent you and enjoy they great offerings.

U.S. Army 152D Military Police Platoon

U.S. Army 152D Military Police Platoon

Normally there is a little to say about most unit coins, but in this rare case we have a lot to say about it. The guys from the 152 MP really out did damn near every unit coin we seen in 2007. In fact if we had a grammy award for challenge coins they would have recieved it. They did this odd shaped coin and crushed what we thought an odd shaped coin could be and then dazzled us by doing in a high polish finish. Ya you read that right, these guys knew what coming out strong meant.

We are very excited to see what 2008 will bring from this unit. They are out of New Jersey and really know what’s going on. This is a 2″ coin that only has high polished nickel as a finish with some black enamel. Thats it…so this is a bare bone coin but sometimes when they say less is more they really do mean it. You can find thisĀ  with USCC.com. Tell us what you think about the coin!

U.S. Army A Co 2BSTB 1CD Archers Challenge Coin

January 20th, 2008 by admin

Archers

This is one of the nicer Army unit coins ever put out for an Army unit which contains not only a high polish finish but some very detailed 3D on their mascot, the Archer. This coin was created for a unit serving in a warzone and they needed something unique but awesome. Needless to say they called U.S. Challenge Coins .com since this was their area of specialty. The result was this coin and has been making waves among the troops out in the field. One thing to note as some may ask why the archer didn’t get colored. 3D cannot be painted, and it’s just that simple.

We are proud to show off this coin as it’s very unique and belongs to a whopping group of 160 coins ever produced. This is an awesome one for any collector without a doubt. This coin is a modest 1.75″ with a great twisted diamond edge. We give this a 8 out of 10. What do you think about this coin?
